One Fire At A Time
Welcome to Walnetto Farm in the most southern tip of the Cascade Mountain range. Just a stone's toss from Mt. Lassen Volcanic National Park and all the treasures these mountains hold. We raise LaMancha dairy goats, laying hens and garden. A homestead realized on "42 Acres of Paradise" off the grid.

Of course you want to extend a big Thank You to all, who helped put out these horrible fires!!!!
What a thing to live through... For you. And for them.
Hugs...
Thank you Wisp . We are most grateful to the three firefighters who gave to the community the ultimate sacrifice their lives. And we will not forget the Bledsoe family in the lose of their wife/mother and her two great grand babies. Nor the 80 year old couple who were traveling home from the area and their travel trailer blew a tire which caused the spark which started this fire. The wife still distraught as she nudged her husband to go camping and now she bears (needlessly) the burden of being so insistent they go. Our community has forgiven and sent them notes encouraging them to forgive themselves as it was an accident. Isn't it amazing how an event of this nature touches so many?
Oh, for sure! You must finally be beginning to let out those sighs of relief. What an ordeal to go through. Way too many people have lost lives or had their homes and properties destroyed. How wonderful of all the kind and caring people who have reached out to the camping couple. Hoping they, and all others affected, can move on past this.
Mama Pea thanks for the support. I imagine that some folks are tired of hearing about it . I know I am tired of living with it and I am pretty much life as usual.
But as anyone can tell us when one is involved to any degree with a catastrophic event one needs to work through it. I imagine anyone who has made through a natural disaster would agree.
The rest of the country has been praying for you all.
Thank you all Gorges.
"Full containment." Whew, what a relief - for us all! Still sounds like watchfulness is important, but hopefully everyone can now get on with their lives.
Such heartbreak for everyone. And such bravery (including the people who lived in and through it). I'm so glad that you came out unscathed. There is not enough praise in the heavens for firefighters.
Thanks ladies and you are both spot on. It was weird on Tuesday as I went into Redding and it was just as smokey as it had been when the fire was very active. I feel so sad for those folks down the hill having to live in that daily. This is going to take a good amount of time to dissipate when the fires finally stop burning.
