This And That

Had some appointments and errands in Redding today. Coming down the hill from blue sky and sun. A large layer of smoke covers the valley floor today.

Let the healing begin. In the hallway at the Chiropractors office.

An encouraging article at the optometrist office while cruising the local paper waiting for appointment time.

The sky on Wednesday night. So nice to see our moon as it begins it dance this week between the planets.

First Naked Lady to bloom in the late summer blooming.

Love all the emotions that are shared in this.

So happy to hear the worst is over for you and all those brave souls that have been affected by the horrible fires.

For the past several days our sky has been gray and smokey from the fires in Ontario. Nothing as bad as the disaster near you though.

So wonderful, to simply be able to see the waxing moon! We don't appreciate even the tiny everyday things, do we? Not as much, as when they are taken away from us, for awhile.

Smoke had settled... Interesting... Don't know anything about smoke, but guess it settles. And then, goes away.

Silly thought but... When cooking produces smoke in the kitchen, we ventilate, and light a couple of candles. And that seems to "take the smoke away."

Fire and smoke, on a large scale, do not act the same.

As I said, very silly thought. :-)

It must be such a relief to have time to catch your breath. I can't say enough about the bravery, perseverance and just grit of firefighters. They are truly heroes. I love that Naked Lady! Is it a lily? Hope this is the end of the threatening fires and that what remains can be rounded up and put out. You all need a break. xo

Mama Pea I am sorry to hear someone else is burning. Funny thing about fires they don't play by rules. I hope for Ontario that is not the case for them.

It is odd in a sense recovery has begun but the fire is still active. Situations such as this show the best and the worst of the human spirit.

You are so welcome. I so enjoy your whimsical post with the sweet illustrations.
I think the content of the burn homes and forest vs a candle or toast cause smoke to react in different ways.I know from a dear friend who is a fire fighter that the color of and shape its smoke that is can be dependent on what material is burning. I also have noted that the last three mornings even with stars in the sky I have found ash on my deck table.

Thank you for your support. Weird thing about fire, flood and all those other "natural" disasters. Unlike recovering from a long illness or losing a loved one the carnage is a long time reminder. I have heard for those who choose to stay and rebuild inclusive estimate 24 + months. There may be big scars in some areas for a long time. Santa Rosa CA is witness to that.
Aren't Naked Ladies the Bomb? They are drought tolerant also and mine came from a friend in Mendocino county.
